Trusted by 100K+ customers who choose Braia for cleaner cooking.

Hybrid Carbon Steel Pan is real carbon steel designed around the part most cooks struggle with: maintaining seasoning. Before factory seasoning, the cooking surface is given a controlled microscopic texture that gives the natural patina more places to grip from the first cook.

The textured surface helps seasoning hold through normal cooking, while nitriding hardens and helps protect the steel underneath. You get responsive, high-heat performance without a conventional synthetic nonstick coating—and a factory-seasoned head start that keeps improving with use.

Wash it. Dry it. Cook. Keep cooking.

Before the first cook, wash and dry the pan. Preheat it gradually over medium heat, add a little oil or butter, then cook. Seasoning still develops with use, so expect the color and patina to change.

After cooking, hand wash with warm water and mild dish soap when needed, then dry immediately. If the surface looks dry or a patch loses seasoning, apply an extremely thin film of oil. Avoid long acidic simmers and do not put the pan in the dishwasher.

We offer tracked shipping on every order. Orders are processed within 1-3 business days, with delivery typically taking 7-11 business days depending on location.

Try Hybrid Carbon Steel Pan for 90 days. If it is not right for your kitchen, contact us and we will make the return simple.

Toxic Cookware Exposed

The Hidden Dangers Lurking In Your Kitchen

Most cookware puts your family's health at risk. Here's what you're really cooking on.

  • Releases toxic fumes above 500F
  • PFAS chemicals accumulate in the body
Ceramic pan with chipped coating

Ceramic

  • Coating chips and wears down within months
  • Contains toxic binders that leach at heat
  • Performance fails before the year is out
Stainless steel pan with stuck food

Stainless Steel

  • Food sticks constantly without excess oil
  • Leaches nickel and chromium at high heat
  • Frustrating cleanup on every use
Cast iron pan with rust

Cast Iron

  • Twice the weight of carbon steel
  • Rusts easily without constant maintenance
  • Slow to heat and slow to respond

No PFAS. No PTFE. No PFOA.

No Coating. Just Steel.

Every coated pan puts a temporary layer between you and the metal. That layer is what eventually fails.

Hybrid Carbon Steel Pan uses no conventional synthetic nonstick coating. A controlled microscopic texture is formed directly in the steel before factory seasoning, while nitriding hardens and helps protect the steel underneath.

  • No conventional synthetic nonstick coating to wear away
  • No PFAS, PFOA or PTFE
  • Microscopic surface texture gives seasoning more places to grip
  • A natural patina that can be renewed through cooking
Real carbon steel is the cooking surface. The texture is formed directly in the steel beneath the seasoning.

A Surface That Gets Better With Every Cook

Most coated pans are slickest on day one and decline from there. Hybrid Carbon Steel is designed around the opposite idea: a natural seasoning layer that can build, change and be renewed through cooking. Its microscopic surface texture gives that patina a stronger foundation.

Every pan arrives factory seasoned, so your first cook begins with a head start. The patina continues developing naturally with use.

  • Textured steel gives seasoning more places to hold onto
  • Natural release builds through repeated cooking
  • Factory seasoned and ready for the first cook

Why Carbon Steel

Why Professional Kitchens Run on Carbon Steel

Carbon steel has been a professional-kitchen standard for generations because it sears hard, responds quickly and develops a natural patina. Hybrid Carbon Steel keeps that proven foundation, then adds a fine texture formed directly in the steel beneath the factory seasoning.

  • Microscopic surface texture gives seasoning more places to hold onto
  • Factory seasoning gives the patina a ready-to-cook head start
  • Nitriding helps protect the real carbon steel underneath
  • No conventional synthetic coating to chip, flake or wear away

Common Questions

What makes Hybrid Carbon Steel different from regular non-stick pans?
Regular non-stick pans rely on a synthetic coating that can wear down. Hybrid Carbon Steel uses real nitrided carbon steel with factory seasoning—no PTFE, PFAS or PFOA coating. Its natural cooking surface develops and improves with use.
Is the Hybrid Carbon Steel Pan really safe to use?
Yes. The cooking surface is real carbon steel with cooking-oil seasoning. It has no conventional synthetic non-stick coating and contains no PTFE, PFAS or PFOA.
Can I use metal utensils with it?
Yes. You can cook with metal spatulas, tongs and whisks. There is no fragile synthetic coating to scratch away, and the natural seasoning can be renewed through normal cooking.
What heat sources are compatible?
Gas, electric, ceramic, induction and oven. Hybrid Carbon Steel is magnetic, so it works on induction without an extra insert and moves easily from stovetop to oven.
Is it dishwasher safe?
No. Dishwasher detergent and prolonged moisture can strip the seasoning and encourage rust. Hand wash with warm water and mild dish soap when needed, then dry the pan immediately.
How does the 25-year warranty work?
The 25-year warranty covers qualifying manufacturing defects under the warranty terms. If you experience a problem, contact our support team with your order details and photos so we can review it.
How heavy is the Hybrid Carbon Steel Pan?
The exact weight varies by size, but Hybrid Carbon Steel is lighter and more responsive than comparable cast iron, making everyday lifting, turning and cleaning easier.
Do I need to season it?
It arrives factory-seasoned, so you do not have to begin with bare steel. The natural patina continues developing as you cook. If the surface ever looks dry, apply an extremely thin layer of cooking oil.

Customer photo review of Hybrid Carbon Steel Pan

I bought my first carbon steel pan in 2021. Watched all the videos, followed the exact oven method, seasoned in five thin coats. By week three the patina was uneven. By month two I had a sticky patch near the center that would not improve no matter what I did. Sold it and stayed on nonstick for two years. A friend bought a BRAIA and let me cook on it. The surface felt different. Not rough. Just different. I went home and ordered one. That was five months ago. No sticky patches, no peeling, no re-season cycles. I clean it and put it away. That is it.

Customer photo review of Hybrid Carbon Steel Pan

I owned two carbon-steel pans before this one. The first was a well-known brand. Three re-seasons. Flaked. The second had a different handle. Still flaked by month two. I was ready to give up and go back to stainless. My partner sent me a description of what the SeasonLock surface is designed to do. That was the first explanation that actually addressed the problem I had instead of just telling me to do more seasoning. Seven months in now. The surface is still holding and it gets easier to clean with every cook.

Hybrid Carbon Steel Pan

Customer photo review of Hybrid Carbon Steel Pan

I owned a different carbon steel pan for almost a year. Re-seasoned it six times. The seasoning would get spotty near the edges and then flake near the center. I sold it and told myself I was done with carbon steel. Then I read about the surface design on this one and how the texture was engineered specifically around the problem I had. Ordered it. Six months in and the surface looks better than my old pan ever did. The factory seasoning was just the start. It built from there.

Hybrid Carbon Steel Pan

The YouTube videos about how to season carbon steel had me convinced I was not the right kind of person to own one. This pan proved that wrong on the first cook. The surface design did the work I thought I was going to have to do myself.

Hybrid Carbon Steel Pan

I genuinely thought nonstick would outlast my need for it. Every pan I bought lasted about a year before the surface changed. Carbon steel lasts as long as you want it to because the surface can always be refreshed. Wish I had switched ten years ago.

Hybrid Carbon Steel Pan

Two young kids in the house. I started researching coated cookware and did not want the uncertainty. Steel and seasoning made sense. This one made the switch manageable without me having to become an expert first.

Hybrid Carbon Steel Pan

I stripped and re-seasoned my old pan so many times I started to feel like the problem was me. This one made it obvious the problem was the surface. The texture underneath gives the seasoning something to hold onto. My old pan never had that. No wonder it kept failing.

Hybrid Carbon Steel Pan

The intimidating part of carbon steel is all the things that can go wrong and how permanent they feel when they do. This one made me realize the surface itself was part of the engineering, not just whatever I was supposed to do after I unpacked it. That changed how confident I felt using it.

Hybrid Carbon Steel Pan

Was on my fourth Teflon pan when I finally decided to stop replacing them. The nonstick category assumes you will just keep buying new ones. That is built into the price point. Switched to BRAIA and bought it once.

Hybrid Carbon Steel Pan

My old pan stuck near the center ring every time I thought I had it figured out. I re-oiled. I re-seasoned. I watched the temperature. Nothing fully fixed it. This one came with the surface already started and I have not had that problem once.

Hybrid Carbon Steel Pan

The forums made carbon steel sound like you needed a year of research before you bought one. I bought this without reading a single thread. Made potatoes on day one, eggs on day three. Nothing dramatic happened. It just cooks.

Hybrid Carbon Steel Pan

The carbon-steel benchmark at this price point used to mean learning the process. This one gets you to the same place faster because the surface preparation was already done before it shipped. For someone who just wants to cook and not study cookware, this is the obvious choice now.

Hybrid Carbon Steel Pan

Made scrambled eggs on day two. I feel like that should not have been possible this early with carbon steel. The factory seasoning gave it a head start and the eggs came out without drama. I did not have to earn this.

Hybrid Carbon Steel Pan

No coating to scratch off. No coating to worry about when I use a metal spatula. No coating to question when I cook something acidic. That was the whole reason I switched. BRAIA is steel and seasoning and nothing between the food and the pan I cannot account for.

Hybrid Carbon Steel Pan

Three failed re-seasons on my last pan. Each one looked great for four or five cooks and then the patches started. My wife asked me to just get something that works. This is something that works.

Hybrid Carbon Steel Pan

I kept buying new nonstick pans because that is just what you do. New set, fifteen months, replacement, twelve months. I genuinely did not think there was another option. Switched three months ago. This is what I should have been using for the last ten years.

Hybrid Carbon Steel Pan

Carbon steel always sounded like something you had to earn the right to cook on. Watched videos for months. Nothing about them made it look simple. Bought BRAIA and made a fried egg on day four. Having the surface already started changed everything about the intimidation factor.

Hybrid Carbon Steel Pan

I have used carbon steel in restaurant kitchens. Home-grade versions always disappointed on one thing: seasoning consistency. The surface design on this one solves for the specific problem that made other consumer carbon-steel pans frustrating. This is what the category should have been from the start.

Hybrid Carbon Steel Pan

After reading about PFAS I went through every pan in my kitchen. Replaced two of them. Carbon steel was the obvious answer but everything I read made it sound technical. This one arrived ready to use and I never had to learn anything the hard way.

Hybrid Carbon Steel Pan

The thing I was afraid of was having to re-season every time I cooked something acidic or left water in the pan too long. Has not happened once. I wash it with mild soap, dry it on the burner, and put it away. That is the whole routine.

Hybrid Carbon Steel Pan

My GreenPan started showing patches around month eight. Replaced it. Same thing at month nine. At some point I started questioning the whole category. Carbon steel was always the answer I kept putting off. BRAIA was how I finally made the switch.

Hybrid Carbon Steel Pan

I did every step right. Flaxseed oil, thin coats, 450 degree oven, two hours, cool in the oven. Three rounds. Peeled by week two. The surface on this one holds in a way mine never did. The SeasonLock surface design is doing something the smooth steel I had was not.

Hybrid Carbon Steel Pan

Read about carbon steel for two years before I bought one. The forums made it sound like a second job. This one arrived seasoned. Made eggs on day three. Nobody told me I was allowed to do that this fast.

Hybrid Carbon Steel Pan

Was on my fourth nonstick pan in five years. The last one started showing scratches around month seven. I did not want to keep cycling through them. Switched to BRAIA six months ago. Not going back.

Hybrid Carbon Steel Pan

I tried a different carbon steel pan 18 months ago. Seasoned it four times by the book. Still peeled. Stripped and started over twice. Eventually sold it. This one held after the first wash and it just kept getting better from there.
